December 13, 2007. Ship’s Navigator Meann Ortiz sent an article about Johnny Depp’s secret visit and donation (well, now no longer a secret) last year to a hospital in London where his daughter (and Vincent’s future girlfriend?) Lily-Rose was confined. Filming of Sweeney Todd was put on hold while Johnny stayed by her side until she recovered. During the secret and surprise visit, Mr. Depp dressed up as Capt. Jack Sparrow and read stories to the kids, he also treated some doctors and nurses to a Sweeney Todd show and party. Reading that just added to a wonderful Johnny Depp overload and it prompted me to get cracking and post these pictures from last year’s outreach program. The pirates of Black Pearl Philippines and the stormtroopers and pilots of Star Wars Philippines visited the Philippine General Hospital. We went around some parts of the hospital and joined in on an ongoing party but most of our time was spent in Ward 9 where many of the kids had cancer. Everyone in the group did want to return. Two weeks after this, I made a sneak visit with Vincent to spend time with one young lad named Salvador. As I type this down, I hope he is hanging in there and that I visit him again soon.
